The "Social Pedagogy & Management" degree programme is unique in Saxony. Not only will you be prepared for a future career in social pedagogy, but the course content is also specifically geared towards the field of work of future managers of social services institutions. This means that after completing your bachelor's degree, you will be ideally qualified for leadership positions in the social sector.
Have you already completed training as an educator or remedial therapist? Then you can skip the entire first year of study and qualify as a state-recognised social pedagogue in just four semesters.

Our student advisory service and our professors will of course be happy to advise you personally and answer all your questions about the content of the social pedagogy programme in Dresden.
Our teaching content focuses on the phases of life known as childhood and youth (up to the age of 27). The programme will give you an understanding of social science perspectives, methodological skills and basic legal knowledge. The social management component gives our programme a unique profile compared to other locations in Saxony.
What you can expect:
The standard duration of the social pedagogy and management programme is 6 semesters (3 years).
If applicants already have prior educational training from vocational training as a state-recognised educator or state-recognised remedial therapist, this prior knowledge is recognised for the first year of study. Students are placed in the 3rd semester, thus shortening the duration of study to 4 semesters (2 years).
More about the credit transfer procedure
Two internships are integrated into the Social Pedagogy and Management programme. The first internship (7 weeks) will take place in social work fields – typical places of employment for students studying social pedagogy in Dresden or social work in Dresden. In the second internship (13 weeks), students can choose to test and deepen their knowledge of either social management or social work fields in practice.
Upon successful completion of the programme, you will receive the internationally recognised Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Pedagogy and Management as well as the title of State-recognised Social Pedagogist.
The career prospects for graduates of the Social Pedagogy and Management (B.A.) programme are diverse. Fields of work include, for example:
Social education workers are employed in Dresden and throughout Germany in public, non-profit and private institutions. In addition, the combination of social education skills and management functions opens up opportunities for self-employment or work in management positions, e.g. in day-care centres.
