Faculty of Design

The Faculty of Design at Dresden University of Applied Sciences offers Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes in the field of design and media that cover a wide range of subjects and are supported by excellent technical facilities, with great prospects for the future: 

Bachelor’s degree programmes

• Graphic Design: Screen & Print Media (B.A.)
• Digital Media Design (B.A.)

Master’s programme

• Creative Direction (M.A.)

The degree programmes are practice-oriented and interdisciplinary in nature. Our success-oriented teaching is delivered by highly qualified professors and lecturers from renowned agencies. A further hallmark of the quality of our teaching at the Faculty of Design is the wide range of academic, artistic and design-related courses, as well as numerous practical projects . Our aim is to support students on an individual basis and to train independent design professionals who use innovative methods to develop aesthetic, function-oriented and environmentally responsible design. Close contact with partners from the business world helps us to continuously adapt the course content to the needs of the design industry and is a key factor in our graduates’ transition into professional life or their decision to continue their academic education by pursuing a Master’s degree.

  The degree programmes offered by the Faculty of Design are dialogue- and team-oriented. Small study groups and personal contact with professors and lecturers create a friendly, family-like atmosphere.

Our Faculty of Design is very well equipped , both technically and in terms of facilities . Numerous drawing rooms, workshops, studios and laboratories offer our students ideal conditions for bringing their creative ideas to life. Our students can also use these facilities and equipment outside regular study hours.

Accreditation and Recognition

All degree programmes at the Faculty of Design are accredited and state-recognised, and follow the European credit transfer system. The degree is therefore recognised on the same basis as those awarded by state universities and universities of applied sciences, and enables students to progress to a Master’s programme in their respective fields at other higher education institutions.

Student Advisory Service

We are happy to advise prospective students personally on the specific content of the degree programmes, the particular features of studying at a private institution, future career prospects and opportunities for further study. We are happy to offer students from other higher education institutions, as well as prospective students with prior professional qualifications, new or further prospects, and will assess the transferability of credits already earned, as well as the possibility of shortening the duration of their studies.
