The Fachhochschule Dresden (FHD) warmly welcomes international and exchange students from all over the world.

For prospect students

The Fachhochschule Dresden - University of Applied Sciences welcomes applications from international students for both Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs. Below, you will find detailed information on admission requirements, application deadlines, tuition fees, and scholarship opportunities.


1. Admission Requirements

For Bachelor's Degree Programs

Applicants must submit the following documents:

  • Secondary School Diploma and/or Certificate of Feststellungsprüfung
    • If the original document is not in German or English, it must be translated and authenticated.
  • Certificate of German Language Proficiency (minimum B2 level)
  • Scan of Passport
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  • Letter of Motivation
  • Matriculation Form

For Master's Degree Programs

Applicants must submit the following documents:

  • Bachelor’s Degree Certificate and Transcript of Records
    • If the original document is not in German or English, it must be translated and authenticated.
  • Certificate of German Language Proficiency (minimum B2 level)
  • Scan of Passport
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  • Letter of Motivation
  • Matriculation Form

2. Application Deadlines

The academic year at FHD consists of two semesters: the winter semester and the summer semester. For the existing study programs, the starting semester is normally the winter semester. The application deadline is July 31st.

For exchange students

A semester at FHD offers the perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in German academic and cultural life while exploring the vibrant city of Dresden.

Programme details

  • Duration: 1–2 semesters
  • Credits: Up to 30 ECTS per semester
  • Language of instruction: Mainly German
  • Additional language course: Optional German course (5 ECTS)

Scholarships

If you come from an Erasmus+ partner university, you can apply for the Erasmus+ scholarship at your home university.

Summer & Winter School at FHD

The FHD Summer and Winter School is a short-term academic program designed for students seeking focused and intensive learning experiences during their summer or winter break. These programs offer a variety of courses and workshops, enabling participants to gain valuable knowledge and skills within a condensed timeframe.

Program Overview

  • Duration: 2 to 4 weeks
  • Language of Instruction: English
  • Credits: 3 – 6 ECTS (Final project required for ECTS accreditation)
  • Accommodation: Included

Internships at FHD

Internship Opportunities

Becoming a faculty or staff intern at Fachhochschule Dresden offers a unique opportunity to gain first-hand experience in the inner workings of a university. As part of our commitment to experiential learning, this internship program is designed to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and practical application, providing students with valuable professional experience.

Remuneration

  • Erasmus Trainees: €700 per month + travel costs
  • Other Trainees: €12 per hour (Total hours determined on a case-by-case basis)

  • Certificate of English or German Language Proficiency (B2+ level)
    • Students from Spanish-speaking countries are exempt from this requirement.
  • Proof of Academic Progress: Completion of at least the second semester of studies at the home university

  • Letter of Motivation
