Courses adapted to professional life:
The courses in this part-time program take place virtually on Thursday evenings and in person at the university on Fridays. This allows you to concentrate fully on your job on the other days.
Do you already have training or professional experience in the nursing or healthcare sector and would like to pass on your knowledge to others? With a vocational education degree programme in Nursing & Healthcare Professions, you will qualify for training and teaching positions in vocational schools and healthcare and social services institutions at an academic level while working.
Want to find out more? Our next online information event on the part-time degree programme will take place on 25 April at 4 pm. Go to registration
In the course of study, medical and scientific fundamentals as well as sound social science and didactic knowledge are taught. The linking of theory and practice is elementary for our study concept. Through your parallel professional activity, the possibility of practical application of your acquired theoretical knowledge from the study of vocational education is already integrated, therefore you do not need to complete external internships. Our practice-oriented teaching will take up application examples from your everyday professional life in practice transfer and reflection seminars.
The bachelor's degree program in Vocational Education for Nursing & Health Care Professions takes the special situation of working people into account by limiting the courses at the university to one evening and one day per week as a rule, as well as a one-week block event at the end of the semester. We take into account the Saxon school vacations when scheduling attendance events.
With this degree program, we are responding precisely to the shortage of skilled workers and the increased requirements for the academic qualifications of teaching staff in health and social care institutions, as they are newly regulated and defined by the "Act on the Reform of Nursing Professions", which will come into force in 2020.
You will receive a nationally and internationally recognized Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree and are thus not only excellently qualified for the teaching profession, but also for jobs in middle management in the health and social care sector. In addition, your bachelor's degree gives you the opportunity to pursue a master's degree.
Your degree qualifies you at an academic level to work as a practical teacher or supervisor in institutions for the training of nursing and health care personnel. You will also be in demand for careers in management and in personnel and organizational development in companies in the healthcare and social sectors.
As a private university, we offer you many advantages and services from the first interest in a place at our university to your graduation - and beyond. In order to be able to offer you this high quality of study, we have to charge tuition fees. As a private university, the FHD is not supported by public funds, but has to finance itself completely.
Of course, there are various ways in which you can finance your studies. We will be happy to look at your individual situation and find solutions together.

In addition, you need a completed training in a nursing or health profession back for this part-time study or you can show a 46-week internship in this area.
In the part-time study program, a teaching position at vocational schools or other institutions in the health or nursing field is usually required. In each semester that includes a practice reflection module, a corresponding teaching activity (or an internship) amounting to 30 hours per credit point of the practice reflection module must be proven.
We will be happy to advise you and find solutions together to ensure the compatibility of your professional and study life. We will also discuss individual crediting options for appropriate remuneration of the professional experience you have brought with you.
