We do our best to support you in your part-time studies, regardless of what stage of life you are currently in. Online courses always take place on Thursday evenings, and face-to-face courses are held on one day per week: Fridays, all day. These dates are announced well in advance, so you can plan your work schedule accordingly. Of course, there are no lectures during the Saxony school holidays.

Course profile: Vocational Education for Nursing and Healthcare Professions

You will qualify at academic level for training and teaching activities in vocational schools and health and social services institutions while continuing to work. This opens up many career paths for you.

With this degree programme, we are responding specifically to the shortage of skilled workers and the increased requirements for the academic qualifications of teaching staff in health and social services institutions, as newly regulated and defined by the "Act on the Reform of the Nursing Professions" that came into force in 2020.

Requirements for your part-time studies

To be admitted to the NC-free Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) programme in Vocational Education for Nursing and Healthcare Professions, you need either

  • a general higher education entrance qualification or
  • a technical college entrance qualification (note regional restrictions) or
  • a subject-specific university entrance qualification (in the field of health or similar).

You will also need:

  • Completed training in a nursing or healthcare profession (e.g. physiotherapy, geriatric care, nursing, midwifery, MFA, etc.) or a 46-week internship in this field
  • In each semester that includes a practical module, you must provide evidence of corresponding teaching activity (or an internship) comprising approx. 20–30 teaching hours.
  • However, you do not have to work as a teacher from the start of your studies.
