The Faculty of Applied Social Sciences at Dresden University of Applied Sciences offers forward-looking and needs-based Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes in the field of social and health care, with excellent prospects for the future:

Master’s degree programmes
In their respective degree programmes, our students acquire fundamental academic knowledge, which is taught in an application-oriented manner with a strong practical focus. Building on this, their fundamental expertise is expanded through a range of compulsory-elective modules specific to each specialisation, which are tailored to the skills currently in demand in the fields of nursing, healthcare, social services and management. Our mission is to train highly qualified professionals who not only understand how to successfully support social, health, care and social economy processes, but who can also proactively shape them. Accordingly, the overarching focus of our programme lies in the areas of social and health-related innovation, the sound application of business knowledge to non-profit organisations, sustainability and empirical social research.
Study formats
Students can undertake the degree programmes either on a full-time basis or whilst working. Both study formats enable our students to obtain a university degree whilst managing their respective life circumstances.
Teaching structure
Teaching takes place in small groups, is interactive and involves discussion with professors and lecturers on an equal footing. Through close contact with our students, we offer individual support and a friendly, family-like atmosphere. By involving industry partners through guest lectures, workshops, field trips and project work, students establish their first contacts with the world of work whilst still studying. In addition to industry trends, the latest findings from the FHD’s interdisciplinary and cross-disciplinary research projects are directly incorporated into teaching. The FHD campus also offers ideal conditions for focused, success-oriented on-campus study: short distances, easy access to staff members, and modern facilities and technology.
Accreditation and Recognition
All degree programmes offered by the Faculty of Applied Social Sciences are accredited and state-recognised, and adhere to the European credit transfer system. The degree is therefore recognised in the same way as degrees from state universities and universities of applied sciences, and enables students to progress to a Master’s programme in their respective subject areas at other higher education institutions.
Student Advisory Service
We are happy to advise prospective students personally on the specific content of the degree programmes, the particular features of studying at a private institution, future career prospects and progression opportunities. We are happy to offer students from other higher education institutions, as well as prospective students with prior professional qualifications, new or further prospects, and will assess the transferability of credits already earned, as well as the possibility of shortening the duration of their studies.
