The Board of Trustees is a central governing body of the Fachhochschule Dresden (FHD). In its structure and function, it is modeled on the “University Council” of public universities in the Free State of Saxony (in accordance with the Saxon Higher Education Freedom Act).
The Board of Trustees brings together distinguished representatives from public life, business, politics, academia, public administration, and professional associations. Members are appointed by the Rector for a term of three years upon recommendation of the Senate. In accordance with §3 of the FHD Constitution, the Rectorate is also a member of the Board of Trustees.
Responsibilities of the Board of Trustees
The Board of Trustees:

supports the FHD in its strategic development and activities

strengthens cooperation between the university and professional practice

advises the Rectorate and the sponsoring body from a public and external perspective

promotes dialogue with companies, associations, and institutions

represents regional interests within the university

enhances the visibility of the FHD in the region

supports particularly high-achieving and committed students
-
assists in securing funding and implementing measures that ensure the long-term quality of teaching and research at FHD
