Award-winning work:
Final projects of our students have already been awarded the Dresden Excellence Award! In addition, various filmic works have received awards at festivals. Are you the next one with an award?
The FHD - University of Applied Sciences offers a modern and interdisciplinary Bachelor's degree programme in Media Informatics & Media Design at the Faculty of Design, which forms an interface between design and technology . With its modern equipment (film studio with the option of motion capture, volumetric capture space, live streaming, green screen and real-time keying, as well as the New Work Design Lab with mixed reality workstations), the programme aims to train the next generation in state-of-the-art technology and to practically explore transitions between linear and interactive media, i.e. gaming, film and animation.
By designing linear and interactive media, you can actively participate in the process of digitalisation. In practice-orientated projects, you will learn new technologies and creatively combine different methods and approaches. Interdisciplinary options give you plenty of scope for your individual specialisation. Against the backdrop of a dynamically changing media industry, the wide-ranging curriculum offers you an ideal career start.
The focus of the program is on interactive (game/web/app design) and linear media (film/video/animation). In the course of the study program Media Informatics & Design, various own design projects are realized in these areas. Interdisciplinary options with the graphic design program support the individual focus. In this way, you have the opportunity to develop both creatively and personally. The study in small groups as well as the intensive study supervision support this process.
The goal of the program is to provide students with the necessary professional, methodological and social skills and to train them to become independent thinkers, team players and graduates with scientific, technical and design skills. In addition, we consider the sensitization of our students to social changes to be an important prerequisite for gaining a foothold in the creative industry.
The high proportion of project-oriented work completed during the course is a special feature of the degree program and reflects its practical orientation. Thus, cooperation projects with partners from business, science and culture are also characteristic of the practice-oriented teaching approach of the Media Informatics & Design program.
The study program is designed as a modularized learning system and involves the combination of various teaching contents into thematic blocks.
Study contents include:
Of course, our student advisors and professors will also be happy to advise you personally and answer all your questions about the course content.
Upon successful completion of the program, you will earn an internationally recognized Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Media Informatics / Media Design. After completing their studies, graduates of the Media Informatics / Media Design program have a variety of options at their disposal.
Graduates of the program work as employees in a media company or agency or are self-employed as freelancers. The fields of work are accordingly diverse. Graduates will work wherever a creative and critical approach to media opportunities is required:
Possible fields of activity are among others
