What makes studying at Dresden University of Applied Sciences special?
At Dresden University of Applied Sciences, prospective academics study in a family atmosphere. The small groups ensure individual attention and interactive lectures with the opportunity to ask questions at any time. In addition to classic lectures, we also regularly offer seminars, workshops and practically oriented forms of teaching.
Practical relevance flows into the study programme at Dresden University of Applied Sciences from five components.
1. the course content is oriented towards the economy and takes up current developments. 2. the professors and lecturers are themselves actively involved in the economy or have a network of contacts.
2. the professors and lecturers are themselves actively involved in business or are part of networks and regularly bring current events and real case studies from the business world into the lectures.
Many companies and businesses support our university through guest lectures and exciting practical projects. In this way, students get to know their employers of tomorrow, perhaps already during their studies.
4. in full-time studies, practical phases offer the opportunity to orientate oneself and to determine focal points for one's own advancement. The part-time programme regularly reflects on their practical experience as a fixed component in the form of its own module.
Some of our students already come from a professional environment or work full-time or part-time while studying. This creates an interesting exchange among the students on practically relevant topics.
91% of our students successfully complete their Bachelor's degree in the standard period of study.
A modern study environment, an organised and planned sequence of all required modules as well as individual support by professors and the entire university team support students in the best possible way on their way.
We enable you to plan your study time in advance and take away organisational challenges. For example, Dresden University of Applied Sciences takes care of the timetabling and organises the sequence of all modules as well as the examinations. This ensures that the degree programme can be completed within the standard period of study.
Full-time students attend the campus at Straßburger Platz every day from Monday to Friday. The core study time is usually between 09:00 and 16:45. We often manage to integrate a day off into the weekly schedule. The organisation and planning allows us to make arrangements with the respective employer and to combine the studies in the best possible way.
In order to reconcile studying with family and full-time work as best as possible, the attendance times are twice a month on Fridays from 17:00 to 21:00 and on Saturdays from 08:30 to 14:30. One week of attendance is added per semester. We also make sure to organise the lecture-free periods in accordance with the Saxon school holidays. We plan the attendance times very early in advance so that students have the opportunity to make arrangements within the family and with their employer in good time.

What does it mean to study at a private university?
Dresden University of Applied Sciences is a private university of applied sciences GmbH. Just as with public universities, our study programmes are accredited and awarded the recognised Bachelor's degree. This ensures connectivity to the Master's degree.
As a private institution, the Dresden University of Applied Sciences offers very specialised study programmes in a total of three different orientations: Management, Social Sciences and Design.
The individual degree programmes also differ in content towards a more generalist orientation. For example, the Business Administration degree programme is more of a classic business administration and focuses on digital business and entrepreneurship. Or the Media Informatics / Media Design degree programme, which, in addition to media such as film and photography (in the in-house studio), also provides study content on animation, game design and VR technology.
