The Board of Trustees is a key body of Dresden University of Applied Sciences. Its structure is modelled on the ‘University Council’ of public universities in the Free State of Saxony (in accordance with the Saxon Higher Education Freedom Act). The Board of Trustees of the Dresden University of Applied Sciences comprises prominent figures from public life, business, politics, academia, the civil service and associations. Members are appointed by the Rector for a term of three years, upon the recommendation of the Senate. In accordance with Section 3 of the FHD’s Basic Regulations, the Rector’s Office is also a member of the Board of Trustees.
The Board of Trustees has the following responsibilities:
- to support the FHD in its work
- to promote cooperation with the professional world
- to advise the Rectorate and the sponsoring body from the public’s perspective
- to promote dialogue with businesses, associations and institutions
- to represent the region’s interests within the FHD
- to raise the profile of the FHD in the region
- to support particularly high-achieving and committed students
- To provide support for the funding and implementation of measures that ensure the long-term quality of teaching and research at the FHD
