A glimpse into the hotel industry: students visit Dresden’s historic hotels

Students on the Tourism & Event Management (TEM24) course were able to experience first-hand just how diverse the hotel and catering industry really is as part of the ‘Hotel and Catering Management’ module. Accompanied by guest lecturer Ines Karnath, they visited two renowned hotels in Dresden and gained exclusive behind-the-scenes insights into the hotel industry.

Visiting the Bilderberg Bellevue & the Gewandhaus Dresden

The first stop on the itinerary took the students to the renowned Bilderberg Bellevue Hotel Dresden. On arrival, HR Manager Lisa Berz welcomed the group and provided fascinating insights into everyday hotel life, current industry trends and career paths in the hospitality sector. The students also received exclusive insights from the General Manager himself. 

The group then visited the 5-star Hotel Gewandhaus Dresden Autograph Collection. There, the focus was particularly on the combination of hospitality, design and event culture. During the guided tour, the students gained fascinating insights into the specific requirements of a modern premium hotel and learnt about the role that atmosphere, architecture and service quality play in the guest experience.

Practical learning on the Tourism & Event Management degree programme

Excursions such as these are an important part of the Tourism & Event Management degree programme at the FHD. They enable direct interaction with industry experts and provide valuable insights into potential career paths.
