Information on accessibility in accordance with the BFSG

This information explains the current status of accessibility of the digital services provided by Dresden University of Applied Sciences (FHD) in accordance with the Accessibility Enhancement Act (BFSG).
The FHD adheres to the requirements of the Accessibility Enhancement Act (BFSG), insofar as these apply to its digital services, as well as to the international Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Conformity Level AA.

Scope of the statement

This accessibility statement applies to the central website of Dresden University of Applied Sciences, which can be accessed via the URL “https://www.fh-dresden.eu/”, as well as all hierarchically subordinate subpages integrated therein. Separate terms of use apply to separate subdomains and decentralised third-party platforms. This statement does not apply to the ILIAS learning management system at ilias.fh-dresden.eu.

Current status of compliance with requirements

Due to the incompatibilities listed below, this website is currently only partially compliant with the WCAG 2.2 (Level AA) guidelines and the requirements of the BFSG.

Non-accessible content

The content, functions and documents listed below are currently not accessible, or not fully accessible, to people with disabilities:

  • Images and graphics (alternative text): Some image elements contain redundant alternative text that repeats the already visible body text, or have excessively long text descriptions that cannot be optimally processed by screen readers.
  • Headings and page structure: Some content is not yet optimally structured for screen readers.
  • Usability on mobile devices (touch targets): Particularly in mobile navigation (smartphones/tablets), some interactive elements such as buttons and links are too small or have insufficient spacing between them, which makes them difficult to operate.
  • Link descriptions: Some links do not have sufficiently descriptive link text that clearly indicates the destination. Furthermore, in some cases there are identical (redundant) links in close proximity to one another that point to the same destination.
  • PDF documents: Some embedded PDF documents do not yet fully comply with the current standards for digital accessibility (PDF/UA).
  • External content and scripts: External content embedded via the consent management system (cookie banner) – such as interactive map services or video players – is, in some cases, not fully accessible via the keyboard or does not provide continuous audio descriptions due to its technological basis.

The FHD is working continuously with its technical service providers and web editors to systematically remove these remaining barriers.

Preparation and review of this statement

This statement was drawn up and last reviewed on 11 June 2026. The assessment was carried out on the basis of automated checks using Lighthouse and WAVE, as well as manual spot checks of selected pages and functions.
