Excursion to the Centre for Tactile Internet with Human-in-the-Loop (CeTI) at TU Dresden

The fascination of AI and robotics: insights into CeTI Dresden

Students from the Master's programmes in Leadership, Entrepreneurship & Innovation and Creative Direction visited the Centre for Tactile Internet with Human-in-the-Loop (CeTI) at TU Dresden together with Prof. Dr. Peter Schmiedgen. At LaunchHub42, presented by Florian Sägebrecht, they learned how cutting-edge research in AI and robotics is directly transferred to start-ups. Highlights included conversations with the humanoid robot "Ameca," insights into the collaboration of robotic arms, and the presentation of "Spot," a robot dog from Boston Dynamics. The day was rounded off with a visit to CeTIBAR – networking included!

Excursion to the Saxon Innovation Conference

Networking and knowledge transfer in the innovation ecosystem

In June, students in the Master's programmes "Leadership, Entrepreneurship & Innovation" and "Games & XR Management" gained interesting insights into the world of innovation. Keynotes from leading experts, including Vanessa Cann on the role of artificial intelligence and Larissa Zeichhardt on bold decisions for entrepreneurial growth, were the focus of the 12th Saxon Innovation Conference organised by futureSAX at Dresden Airport. Workshops such as "Women in Tech" not only provided inspiring presentations, but also important ideas for the students' own careers. Students were able to make important contacts and expand their network at the stands of more than 100 exhibiting companies – a special opportunity to experience Saxony's innovation ecosystem first-hand.

Excursion to Impact Hub

Co-working spirit

As part of the "Advanced Innovation Management" module, students learn how to design innovation processes. One design element is the innovation space, where co-working spaces are becoming increasingly important. In order to deal with this not only theoretically, we went directly to the two locations of the Impact Hub Dresden. There they were able to experience the various functional areas and the interdisciplinary, open atmosphere for themselves. There were also interesting insights into which companies have recently rented space here to test new working environments and work on innovation projects.

Innovation management at the Transparent Factory

Structures and cultures are among the things needed to ensure that innovations continue to emerge. The "Advanced Innovation Management" module covers current approaches. But what does the theory look like in practice? Where are the opportunities and pitfalls? To find out, the students took a close look at production at the Transparent Factory and learned how the site is constantly evolving and addressing challenges in business, society and technology. In discussions with the site's innovation management team, they also gained exciting insights into past and current strategies and programmes – from incubators/accelerators to challenges for trainees. New scoring models for innovation activity in career paths were also discussed.

Excursion to Rahaf Harfoush

New York Times best-selling author on AI

Shaping the companies of the future also means constantly seeking new inspiration from thought leaders. At the Kulturpalast, digital anthropologist and New York Times best-selling author Rahaf Harfoush spoke on the topic of "Emerging Digital Culture – Invisible Aspects of Technology". In her keynote speech, she provided deep insights and perspectives on how the battle for our attention is evolving, how AI is changing the value of knowledge work, how old errors in thinking are creeping into new, supposedly smart solutions, how communication is developing new codes, and what role government regulations (must) play. Afterwards, the students reflected on the content, applied it to practical situations, and derived concrete solutions for executives and innovation managers in practice. After all, they bear increasing responsibility for the far-reaching effects of new technologies when they bring them to market or use them in their companies. This requires a vision for technology assessment that needs to be trained.
