Project Duration

Project Objectives

The project trains mentors in hospitals and long-term care facilities across the Lusatia region to motivate, advise, and support their colleagues in participating in workplace continuing education.

Its objectives are to:

  • Qualify 30–40 Continuing Education Mentors (WBM) in 8–10 hospitals and care facilities.
  • Enable each mentor to support and reach approximately 10–15 employees.
  • Establish the Continuing Education Mentor (WBM) concept as a sustainable part of organisational staff development.

Project Background

The healthcare sector faces a significant shortage of skilled professionals. At the same time, changes in vocational training regulations have created increasingly complex requirements for in-house continuing education management. In addition, the Lusatia region has an above-average ageing population, resulting in growing demand for healthcare, nursing, and therapeutic services.

To address these challenges, Dresden University of Applied Sciences is developing a sector-specific qualification programme for Continuing Education Mentors in close collaboration with the project partners and pilot institutions. The participatory training programme equips mentors with knowledge and practical skills in communication, learning counselling, learning support, and managing organisational and technological transformation processes.

The programme particularly strengthens participants' personal, social, methodological, and professional competencies, enabling them to promote a sustainable culture of workplace learning within their organisations.
