Dresden World Cup Public Viewing Press Launch

Students at FHD are organising a large World Cup viewing party

Football, a festival atmosphere and a real-world project

What sounds like a relaxed evening of football and an unforgettable summer party for the guests is, for six of our students, a genuine, practical project involving a great deal of responsibility: As part of their degree programme in Tourism & Event Management (BA), they are organising ‘Our World Cup Viewing Dresden 2026’. On 10 June 2026, the team celebrated its official press launch and had the opportunity to present the project to the public live on Sachsen Fernsehen.

A very special public viewing event

On 25 June 2026, the big day will arrive: the World Cup match between Germany and Ecuador will be broadcast live on the outdoor grounds of Sektor Dresden (An der Eisenbahn 2). However, the concept devised by our student organising team deliberately goes beyond a traditional public viewing event.

Under the motto “Let’s celebrate the World Cup together and have some fun!”, the venue will be transformed into a real summer festival. A comprehensive programme of events is planned for around 500 visitors:

  • Interactive highlights: beer pong, table football, a team quiz and live graffiti sessions will ensure active participation.
  • A lively, festival atmosphere: Local DJs – Karl, Erik and ANTÁ – graffiti artist Sebastian Bestier, an art stall, popcorn, and food and drink stalls all contribute to the relaxed atmosphere.
  • After-party: It’s far from over once the final whistle blows – the event flows seamlessly into a lively after-party.

“We want to create a public viewing event that doesn’t feel like a crowded night out in a bar, but rather like a communal summer event with football, music and a genuine atmosphere,” explains Julian Pamp, who is responsible for IT and PR within the team. The public viewing event is intended as a community event, where football serves as a unifying element that brings people together regardless of age, background or lifestyle.

A hands-on approach that inspires

Behind this extraordinary evening of events lies weeks of intensive work. From target audience analysis, through sponsorship and funding, to venue planning, technical set-up and press relations. The six-person team (Julian Pamp, Martin Neumeister, Emma Ehinger, Laura Schönfeldt, Benedikt Schleith and Benny Valley) is organising the event to a professional standard. They are closely supported in their work by lecturer Karla Großer and the programme directors led by Prof. Dr Marco Richter.

In this context, Prof. Dr Marco Richter emphasises: “This practical project demonstrates once again how we at the FHD consistently bridge the gap between theory and practice. This helps to develop various future skills, enabling our students to develop sustainably across all levels of competence so that they can pursue a variety of career paths.”

This event impressively demonstrates what makes studying at Dresden University of Applied Sciences so special: innovative learning through real-world practical projects. Our students take on responsibility and play an active role in shaping the regional events scene.

Come and join us!

We warmly invite all students, lecturers, football fans and event enthusiasts to support this special project and join us for a fantastic evening.
