Traveling Tools – diversity-sensitive methodology toolkit for early childhood education in Saxon Switzerland – Osterzgebirge
“Traveling Tools” – Diversity-Sensitive Method Toolkits
The Traveling Tools – diversity-sensitive method toolkits – make it possible for different stories to be told, because hidden or marginalized stories are important to expand knowledge, question existing norms, and bring about change.
For this purpose, books and materials that highlight diversity are needed because:
-
All children want to see that they too can be heroes.
-
Children should be able to see themselves and each other reflected in books.
-
Stories reflect our truths and realities, which exist as often as there are diverse people.
-
Exclusion and marginalization hurt.
The toolkits travel across the district of Saxon Switzerland–Ore Mountains and can be borrowed free of charge via Fachhochschule Dresden (FHD). A total of three toolkits are available for daycare centers and after-school care programs.
Institutions can use the toolkit materials for six weeks before the toolkit moves on to the next center. Each toolkit includes a guidebook to familiarize staff with the topic and materials. In addition, Fachhochschule Dresden can be contacted to provide training sessions related to the toolkits.
If you are interested in borrowing a toolkit or learning more about the project, please get in touch via email.
