As part of their full-time studies, the Tourism & Event Management (B.A.) program at Dresden University of Applied Sciences (FHD) is initiating a festival-style event in the summer semester titled “WM Viewing Dresden 2026.” In collaboration with lecturer Karla Grosser, program director Prof. Dr. Marco Richter, and external partners, fourth-semester students develop a comprehensive World Cup viewing concept for the FIFA World Cup 2026 within the module Practical Project II.
The aim of the project is the independent conception and execution of an event format that goes beyond traditional public viewing and stands out through a clear dramaturgical approach. The focus lies on creating an immersive experience that combines sports viewing, cultural program elements, and social interaction.
During an initial site visit, students explore the previously unused event location.
Students’ Vision:
“We aim to create shared moments.”
Students’ Mission:
“Our mission is to host an interactive public viewing event in Dresden on June 25, 2026, featuring a diverse supporting program that inspires both World Cup enthusiasts and curious visitors.”
Until June 25, 2026, students will go through all milestones of event planning, putting their acquired skills to the test—from idea generation and conceptual development to planning, implementation, and evaluation. They take on responsibility in various project areas and work under real-world conditions similar to their future professional environment.
