Summer Reception hosted by the City of Dresden

The 2026 Summer Reception of the City of Dresden provided an opportunity for exchange and new impulses. The Rector of the Dresden University of Applied Sciences, Dr. habil. Heike Zimmermann-Timm, used the meeting with Lord Mayor Dirk Hilbert to discuss current developments and future plans for the university.

Universities and the city are closely connected. They train skilled professionals, address social and economic challenges, and contribute new ideas and perspectives to urban society. As a practice-oriented university, FHD sees itself as a link between academia, business and urban society and aims to contribute even more strongly to the development of Dresden through its expertise.

“The university and the city belong together. We want to position FHD even more strongly as a partner for Dresden and contribute to the development of the city and the region,” emphasizes Zimmermann-Timm.

FHD sees itself as an integral part of Dresden’s higher education landscape and as an active partner in shaping the city’s future.
