On June 29, participants of the EXIST-Women funding program from the Technical University of Dresden (TU Dresden), the University of Applied Sciences Dresden (HTW Dresden), and the Dresden University of Applied Sciences (FHD) came together for a joint networking event. Guided by the theme of networking, the afternoon focused on exchange, inspiration, and building valuable connections.
Networks are a key success factor on the path to self-employment. They open up new perspectives, provide access to knowledge, experience, and support, and help overcome challenges together. Against this backdrop, the event gave participants the opportunity to connect across universities, share experiences, and establish new relationships.
In an interactive workshop on the topic of “Networking” combined with practical exercises, participants explored various aspects of successful networking. Among other things, they learned how to start conversations with ease, engage in confident small talk, and present themselves and their business ideas convincingly. In addition, strategies for building and maintaining valuable contacts were discussed. Participants also gained insights into different forms of networks and learned how these can support their own professional and entrepreneurial development.
The open exchange among the participants was particularly valuable. In a trusting atmosphere, numerous conversations emerged about business ideas, personal experiences, and future plans. Not only were new contacts established, but also initial ideas for potential collaborations were developed.
The event concluded with a joint gathering on the rooftop terrace of Dresden University of Applied Sciences (FHD). In a summer atmosphere and with an impressive view over the city, participants had the opportunity to continue the conversations from the afternoon in a relaxed setting and deepen the newly established connections.
“I am delighted that we were able to welcome the participants of the EXIST-Women program from TU Dresden, HTW Dresden, and FHD to a joint networking event at our university. I was particularly impressed by the openness of the participants. Within a very short time, inspiring conversations, valuable new contacts, and mutual support emerged. That is exactly what makes a strong network: bringing people together who learn from one another, strengthen each other, and develop new perspectives together.” – Jasmin Schöne, Chancellor of FHD
The networking event once again demonstrated how important personal encounters are for the development of ideas and entrepreneurial projects. The cross-university gathering of EXIST-Women participants strengthened not only each individual’s personal network but also the connections within Dresden’s startup ecosystem.
Because ideas grow best when people engage in conversation, support one another, and develop new perspectives together.
