That was the LNDW 2026 at the FHD

On 26 June 2026, Dresden University of Applied Sciences opened its doors to visitors of all ages as part of Dresden’s Long Night of Science. Despite the high summer temperatures, the evening on our campus at Straßburger Platz was filled with research, experimentation and wonder. Our guests got to know Dresden University of Applied Sciences better and had the chance to chat with lecturers and students from our three faculties. Click here to go straight to the photo gallery.

Creative perspectives on the theme of ‘manipulation’

A particular crowd-puller was the exhibition by students from the Graphic Design, Screen & Print Media programme. The focus was on nine artistic projects centred on the overarching theme of ‘manipulation’, which were created as part of the Artistic Project module (GD24, 3rd semester).

The exhibition was also part of an international collaboration with NHL Stenden University of Applied Sciences in Leeuwarden (Netherlands). Students from the Sound Design programme supported the projects with sound concepts they had developed themselves and travelled to Dresden for the exhibition opening. The collaboration began with shared inspirations during Dutch Design Week and was officially launched in February with a joint pitch by the FHD students to their Dutch partner students.

It wasn’t just students from the Netherlands who visited the FHD; we were also delighted to welcome a number of other international students from 22 to 26 June. The Blended Intensive Programme (BIP), organised as part of the Erasmus+ programme, was also held under the theme of ‘Manipulation’ and offered participants the opportunity to engage creatively and critically with the impact of media, design and perception. The results of the week were presented by the international students on the day of the Long Night of Science.
