New university leadership sets a clear course for the future of the FHD

At its meeting on 16 April 2026, the Senate of the FHD elected the Vice-Rectors for the coming term of office. They will take up their posts with immediate effect.

The Rectorate comprises:

Together with the Rector, Dr. habil. Heike Zimmermann-Timm, and the Chancellor, Jasmin Schöne, the team forms the FHD’s university management and is responsible for key strategic areas of university development.

Study and teaching at the heart of university development

With this new structure, the FHD is specifically focusing on the integration of innovation, sustainable transfer and strategic management. The aim is to further establish the university as a forward-looking centre of education and research in Saxony and to strengthen its role as a catalyst for social transformation.

Study and teaching are deliberately declared a top priority for the Rector. In doing so, the FHD underlines the central importance of future-oriented, high-quality and responsibility-oriented education. In addition to innovations in content, the focus is also on structural developments that empower students to actively contribute to sustainable solutions.

Strong expertise in key future fields

  • Prof. Dr.-Ing. Marius Brade is Professor of Media Informatics, specialising in interactive programming and game development within the Department of Design. He served as Acting Rector of the FHD until February 2026 and brings extensive experience in university management as well as fresh ideas for innovative and application-oriented research.
  • Prof. Dr Marco Richter is Professor of Business Administration specialising in tourism within the Faculty of Business Administration. Until February 2026, he served as Acting Vice-Rector for Research, Innovation and Transfer, and in this role drove forward key developments in the areas of strategic cooperation and transfer processes.

Taking joint responsibility for the future
