Professor Fabian Gießler, Head of the Digital Media Design programme, is celebrating his tenth anniversary at Dresden University of Applied Sciences (FHD).

Ten years of dedication to film, storytelling and teaching at the FHD

In April 2026, Professor Fabian Gießler will celebrate his tenth anniversary at Dresden University of Applied Sciences (FHD). Since joining the university in April 2016, he has played a key role in shaping the Digital Media Design degree programme and has continuously developed it through two successful reaccreditation processes.

Professor Gießler’s teaching focuses on the areas of film, storytelling and animation. With great dedication, he guides students through the realisation of their film projects and supports them in bringing creative ideas to fruition at a professional level.

A particular strength of the programme lies in its practical training: the establishment of the faculty’s own film and photography studios, initiated by Prof. Gießler, offers FHD students excellent production facilities and enables them to work professionally whilst still studying.

Furthermore, Prof. Gießler has established numerous collaborations with regional institutions and companies, including the Saxony Film Association, Balance Film, the Dresden Film Festival, Stillinmotion and Flightseeing. These partnerships provide valuable insights into the industry and enhance students’ career prospects.

Dresden University of Applied Sciences would like to thank Professor Fabian Gießler for his many years of commitment and looks forward to continuing to work with him.
