Academic Profile
Dr Oliver Franken is interested in the topics of organisational development and educational organisational consultancy for profit and non-profit organisations. His work focuses on the design of change processes within companies, further training for employees and, in particular, management training.
Academic and Professional Background
In the summer semester of 2026, Dr Franken is working as a visiting professor of social management at the FHD (part-time).
In addition, Oliver Franken works as a division head for RKW Sachsen GmbH. Dr Franken heads the Continuing Education/RKWCAMPUS division – an educational partner for businesses. Previously, he worked as a project manager, for example on the Regional Future Centre Saxony project.
Oliver Franken studied Education at Chemnitz University of Technology (Bachelor of Arts, 2007–2010) and Continuing Education Research and Organisational Development at Dresden University of Technology (Master of Arts, 2010–2013). He completed his PhD at the University of Koblenz (Dr. phil., 2019).
Main research areas and interests
His research focuses on the following topics, amongst others:
- Triggers for change processes in organisations/change management in the profit and non-profit sectors
- Educational organisational consultancy
- Executive training (New Work/Future of Work, New Leadership)
Teaching
His teaching areas cover issues relating to the management of (social) educational organisations, such as management/leadership/(New) Leadership, change management, marketing, HR and team development, and strategy and business model development. A particular focus is on promoting educational professionalism.
Oliver Franken has several years’ experience in teaching and examining within academic education and continuing professional development at various higher education institutions, such as the Universities of Koblenz and Kaiserslautern and Dresden University of Applied Sciences. In addition, he conducts management consultancy work and workshops.
