Academic Profile

Peter Kögler teaches courses in ‘Fundamentals of Business Administration’, ‘Business Start-ups’ and ‘Risk Management as Part of Corporate Governance’, all with a strong practical focus.
When delivering the course content, he places particular emphasis on the interplay between the various subject areas, with the aim of fostering a holistic understanding of the interrelationships.

Academic and Professional Background

Peter Kögler studied Mechanical Engineering at the Bautzen School of Engineering, completed a Master of Business Administration at City University of Seattle, and obtained his PhD with a specialisation in ‘Risk Management as Part of Corporate Management’ at the Prague University of Economics and Business.
His internationally oriented professional career encompasses cross-sector experience in various roles within the manufacturing and service sectors – in both small and medium-sized enterprises and large corporations.
As a plant manager, and through founding and building up a company, he has gained extensive leadership and entrepreneurial experience.
For more than 25 years, Peter Kögler has been combining theory with practice. Alongside his work as a lecturer, he works independently as a consultant for start-ups and small and medium-sized enterprises.

Research Focus & Interests 

In his research, Peter Kögler focuses, amongst other things, on the topics of business start-ups and management, as well as risk management as part of corporate governance.
In view of rapid technological development – particularly through automation and artificial intelligence – the increasing complexity of the labour market and the rising demands placed on managers, individual personality is becoming increasingly important. In many cases, specialist knowledge and good grades alone are no longer sufficient.
His future research will therefore focus on personal attributes and individual potential, which should be integrated more fully into the context of corporate management.

Teaching

The basis of Peter Kögler’s teaching is the imparting of methodological knowledge, supplemented by exercises and practical examples.
In addition to helping students understand the subject matter and its interconnections, his aim is to enable them to solve problems independently, make well-informed decisions and act on their own initiative, so that they can forge their own path.
The aim is to prepare graduates for a fulfilling professional life that takes into account their individual circumstances, talents and potential, as well as their personal goals, whilst enabling them to make a positive contribution to society.
