Thema der Bachelorarbeit:
Die ökonomischen Auswirkungen von Airbnb auf die Hotellerie in Barcelona

Congratulations on your successful bachelor's thesis. Please tell us briefly what your thesis was about and why you chose this topic.
In my bachelor's thesis, I examined the economic impact of Airbnb on the hotel industry in Barcelona. I was fascinated by the topic because Airbnb has significantly changed tourism in recent years and Barcelona, as one of the most visited cities in Europe, offers a very exciting case study. I was also able to contribute my personal experiences from my semester abroad to the topic. It was important to me to choose a current and practical topic that is also socially relevant.
Where will your career take you after your studies? What aspect of your future job excites you the most?
I'm starting my master's degree in International Marketing and Communication in September. I'm most looking forward to combining international marketing aspects with the knowledge I've gained in tourism and event management.
What were your expectations of the programme and were they met?
I didn't really know what to expect here, but I was very positively impressed by everything! I'm really glad I chose this degree programme.
What do you think you need to study this subject?
Definitely an enthusiasm for cultures. You should be open-minded and creative, and also be able to think outside the box to come up with innovative ideas. And you should have a knack for recognising and implementing the needs of a person/customer.
What is the most valuable experience from your time as a student?
The most valuable experience was going abroad during my studies. Whether it's an internship or studying abroad, you gain so much experience, learn about different cultures, ways of life and ways of thinking, and you also grow personally. It's a unique opportunity that you should definitely take advantage of.
What did you enjoy most – which moments have stayed with you?
The highlights that have stayed with me were definitely the internship abroad and the semester abroad in Barcelona and Thailand. At the same time, there were also lots and lots of practical projects that we had here. Another highlight was the club tour in the concert management module with lecturer Annika. I think it was in the fourth semester.
