Thema der Bachelorarbeit:
„Redesign und Positionierung der Marke Faber-Castell im professionellen Kreativbereich“

What was particularly important to you when deciding to apply to the FHD?
At first, I was mainly won over by the university’s accessibility and transport links in Dresden. After my initial experiences on campus (at the open day or the portfolio consultation), I was immediately impressed by the atmosphere: the interaction between students and lecturers is open, friendly and on an equal footing. Ultimately, I was also impressed by the broad range of course content, which led me to study at the FHD.
How do you view your decision today?
Now, shortly before completing my degree, I am completely satisfied with my decision to study at the FHD and feel well prepared for the job market or for further qualifications. In particular, the excellent integration and preparation for the internship semester contributed to this, as did the other course content, such as Editorial Design, Typography 1 & 2, and Interface Design.
How would you rate your contact with the professors?
Contact with the professors, as well as with all other lecturers, was always on an equal footing at the FHD. There wasn’t a single seminar where you felt left behind or didn’t receive sufficient feedback. All professors and lecturers are easily accessible both online and on campus.
What were your personal highlights? It’s
hard to list my highlights, as there were so many in every semester. However, seminars such as ‘Editorial Design’, with excellent preparation in the areas of print and layout, ‘Photography’, where you learnt all the important basics, and ‘Screen Printing’, which offered an exciting insight into another area of graphic design, really stood out.
Would you choose the course again?
Yes. For example, in the 6th semester, almost all the compulsory elective seminars would have been interesting and you were “spoilt for choice” between several good projects.
What inspired you most during your studies?
What inspired me most was the course trip to Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven, where you could gain fascinating insights into architecture, product design and graphic design.
How would you rate the preparation for the professional world during your studies? I
really liked the fact that it wasn’t just the projects with real industry partners that got you used to everyday working life, but also the internship in the 5th semester.
Which specific resources or facilities at the FHD did you use during your studies?
The wide range of plotters, laser cutters, the eye-tracking lab, the screen-printing workshop and, of course, the full Adobe Cloud.
