A subsequent tour of the campus illustrated how Dresden University of Applied Sciences is already putting these priorities into practice. Practice-oriented teaching, innovative degree programmes, close cooperation with industry, and a strong commitment to knowledge and technology transfer are defining characteristics of the university.
Private Universities as Drivers of Innovation in Saxony
Coinciding with the meeting, the German Council of Science and Humanities (Wissenschaftsrat) published its latest recommendations on the role of private universities. The report highlights their significant contribution to securing skilled talent, promoting knowledge and technology transfer, and supporting regional transformation.
For Dresden University of Applied Sciences, these recommendations provide important affirmation. Many of the priorities identified by the Council as essential for the future are already being actively implemented at the university in close collaboration with partners from industry and society.
The meeting between Rector, Dr. habil. Heike Zimmermann-Timm and Saxony Economic Development underscores the importance of ongoing dialogue in strengthening Saxony's position as a leading location for higher education and business. Both partners aim to continue this exchange and translate shared ideas into concrete projects and long-term collaborations.
