The Dresden University of Applied Sciences (FHD) welcomes Prof. Dr. Heike Zimmermann-Timm as its new Rector. During her official introduction, she met with the university’s management, faculty, and staff. The school leadership of FHD’s partner institutions, AFBB – Academy for Vocational Education gGmbH – as well as colleagues from AWV – Academy for Business and Administration GmbH – were also present. The personal exchange provided an opportunity to gain insights into ongoing projects and future initiatives, and to set initial impulses for further collaboration.

Her central goal is not only to provide students with excellent academic training but also to empower them to become responsible shapers of a sustainable future. An Impressive Career Path
Prof. Zimmermann-Timm brings extensive experience in science management, strategic organizational development, and sustainability research:

At the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research, she built national and international research networks and strengthened collaboration in climate impact research.

As Managing Director of the Goethe Graduate Academy at Goethe University Frankfurt, she founded Germany’s first university-wide graduate academy, established binding quality standards, and developed structured qualification programs for doctoral candidates.

She is engaged as a founding advisory board member of CEOs FOR FUTURE and serves on the ESS Advisory Board of the Austrian Academy of Sciences.

As an academic, she conducts research on climate protection, circular economy, and sustainability at various universities.
