Study content for (professional) life: Applied studies

Knowledge comes from doing: We offer you well-founded theoretical knowledge with a high level of practical relevance. Learning theory by heart just for the exam? That's not the case with us. You learn exactly what you need to know and be able to do later in your professional life. You can try things out directly in practical projects.

Learn languages

Broaden your horizons and immerse yourself in other cultures! In addition to business English, you will also learn Spanish during your studies and are thus ideally prepared for your international career and communication with international customers and partners.

Actively helping to shape your studies: building interdisciplinary skills.

With us, you won't get lost in the crowd. In small groups of about 15 students, you can actively participate and have a say in the content. Here it is not only about given topics, but also about your ideas and opinions. Due to the interdisciplinary orientation of the program, you will get to know other perspectives, methods and tools, e.g. in the context of projects with graphic designers. This way you learn teamwork already during your studies - one of the most important soft skills for your professional life.

Theory and practice closely intertwined

Your experiences from your everyday professional life are specifically incorporated into your studies. In the context of practical reflections, you discuss current topics with the lecturer in the study group and develop solutions that work in practice!

What our graduates say

Nicole, graduate B.A. Tourism & Event Management

"I love meeting people and writing about what moves them - anywhere in the world."  - Nicole, graduate B.A. Tourism & Event Management

Since graduating from high school, my desire to study was clear: Tourism and Event Management. A diverse field in which there is not just one but a hundred possible career paths, as we were "preached" in the 1st semester at the FHD.
At the beginning of my studies, I didn't realize that I was going in the direction of journalism. The industry is not only exciting because everything revolves around the best time - the vacation - it is also full of passionate people who burn for tourism and that is intoxicating. I was privileged to meet some of these people at FHD and call them my lecturers. Their helpful feedback, fairness, easy-going sympathetic nature, flexibility in a sudden pandemic and, of course, professionalism have meant that I look back fondly on my studies at FHD."

Sven, graduate B.A. Tourism & Event Management

"Two things were important to me for my studies: On the one hand, the constant practical relevance, which the FHD has as a claim to itself and which was also fulfilled. On the other hand, the mixture of content from event management and tourism. Both subject areas overlap and have therefore offered themselves as teaching content. Even if one chooses one of the two directions, experiences and added values can always be drawn from the other."
- Sven, graduate B.A. Tourism & Event Management

Cora, graduate B.A. Tourism & Event Management

"My passion is to create memorable and emotional experiences. I am grateful to be able to touch and connect people with my profession." Cora, graduate B.A. Tourism & Event Management

I have always enjoyed planning, organizing and executing events. Thanks to the small seminar groups, the high practical content and the enthusiastic lecturers, I got to know the diversity of the event and tourism industry during my studies. Thanks to the FHD's good contacts with other companies, I even had the opportunity to write my bachelor's thesis in collaboration with a neuroscience institute and conduct my own study.

The broad-based study program also served as a springboard into my job as a manager on board the "Mein Schiff" fleet of TUI Cruises. Under the motto "One Fleet. One Crew." today I enjoy the contact with around 45 other nations in the crew and prepare travelers for an unforgettable vacation. As a department manager, I am always happy to draw on my good business training and other core competencies such as personnel management, conflict resolution and effective communication.
