On September 10, 2025, Dresden University of Applied Sciences (FHD) welcomed a high-ranking delegation from the city government of Kaohsiung (Taiwan) led by Deputy Mayor Lo, Ta-Sheng. The visit is part of the official program of the state capital Dresden and underscores the growing relations between Saxony and Taiwan in the fields of education, research, and economic innovation.
The aim of the exchange is to further deepen cooperation in the fields of education, research, entrepreneurship, and innovation. The focus of the visit was the presentation of the new master's program in Leadership, Entrepreneurship & Innovation (LEI), which combines practical entrepreneurial thinking, leadership skills, and innovative strength. In addition, opportunities for cooperation in the areas of digitalization, sustainability, and entrepreneurship were discussed, as well as the continuation of the exchange through initiatives such as the Summer School, which is currently taking place with students from National Taichung University of Science and Technology.
The delegation was welcomed by Tom Kahle (Managing Director of FHD-AFBB), Prof. Dr. Marius Brade, and Prof. Dr. Antonio Roldán-Ponce. The program included an introduction to the FHD-AFBB Group and its practice-oriented study model, a presentation of the cooperation strategy, and insights into transfer projects such as the FHD's VR Escape Room Lab.
The visit was rounded off with a discussion round and a joint lunch in the FHD cafeteria, accompanied by representatives of the city of Dresden and Prof. Shu-Chen Li (Saxon-Taiwanese Society, TU Dresden).
Prof. Dr. Marius Brade: “We are honored to welcome the delegation from Kaohsiung to Dresden. Education and innovation thrive on international exchange. With our profile as a university of applied sciences, we see it as our responsibility to quickly transfer research results into practice. This visit opens up new perspectives for students, joint projects, and the strengthening of Dresden as a center of innovation.”
Context: Kaohsiung is Taiwan's second-largest city and a leading center for high-tech industry, particularly in semiconductor production. The visit underscores Dresden's role as a European center for microelectronics and innovation. For the FHD, strengthening international networking is a central component of its strategy to promote practice-oriented learning and knowledge transfer between science, industry, and society in a sustainable manner.
