Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dr. Chóngliàng Zhòng takes up the Chair in Strategic Human Resource Management

Fachhochschule Dresden (FHD) is further sharpening the profile of its Faculty of Business Administration. With the appointment of Prof. Dr. Dr.-Ing. Chóngliàng Zhòng to the professorship of Strategic Human Resource Management, the university is strengthening the targeted integration of technological innovation, leadership expertise and modern organisational development.

Interdisciplinary Expertise from Academia and Industry

Prof. Zhòng has a strong interdisciplinary profile at the intersection of engineering and business management. Following doctoral degrees from the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences and RWTH Aachen University, he brings more than 15 years of research and leadership experience in academia and industry.

His professional career includes, among other positions, heading the Additive Manufacturing Department at the Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Technology and Advanced Materials IFAM, as well as holding global management positions in the technology sector.

Focus on the Future of Work

In teaching and research, Prof. Zhòng focuses on the future viability of organisations in the context of digital and societal change. Key areas of his work include the transformation of working environments (Future of Work), collaboration between humans and artificial intelligence, as well as agile, competency-based leadership and organisational structures.

Another key focus is knowledge and technology transfer. Building on his many years of experience at the interface of engineering and industry, Prof. Zhòng investigates how technological innovations from research and development can be systematically transferred into business applications and ultimately into market success.

“Throughout my professional career, I have repeatedly worked at the intersection of technology, people and management. I now want to bring this perspective into research and teaching and, together with our students, develop answers to the question of how organisations can remain successful and future-proof in an increasingly dynamic working environment,” explains Prof. Dr. Dr.-Ing. Chóngliàng Zhòng.

New Impulses for Fachhochschule Dresden

The Rector of Fachhochschule Dresden, Dr. habil. Heike Zimmermann-Timm, also sees the appointment as an important impulse for the university: “With Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dr. Chónglàng Zhòng, we are gaining not only proven expertise in the field of Human Resource Management, but also a valuable technical perspective that will provide new impetus for the further development of Fachhochschule Dresden.”

Prof. Dr. Antonio Roldán-Ponce, Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration at Fachhochschule Dresden, also emphasises the importance of the new professorship: “The transformation of the working world requires today’s leaders to have a deep understanding of technological innovations as well as strategic human resource and organisational development. With Prof. Dr. Dr.-Ing. Zhòng, we are gaining an outstanding expert who bridges precisely these areas and prepares our students in the best possible way for the demands of evidence-based and forward-looking corporate management.”

With this appointment, Fachhochschule Dresden is also further expanding its knowledge and technology transfer with regional and international partners from industry and academia.
